Melbourne Water Silvan Office.
Design and construct delivery of a 230m2 office building for Melbourne Water Corporation to accommodate field staff based at the Silvan Reservoir facility.
The project was designed to replace the existing outdated accommodation. The building was prefabricated to minimise site based construction activity at the operational facility.
Design to comply with Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) 29 requirements and with engineering completed by GHD, the building features 50% greater thermal resistance than minimum BCA requirements, an energy recovery ventilation system, recycled timber feature walls and low VOC and natural materials throughout.
The project won the commercial building category of the 2014 Melbourne Design Awards.
Project value: $685,000 (excl GST) including design, consultant and authority fees, factory and site based construction. Form of Contract: AS2124. Factory based construction = 18 weeks.
