Bonshaw Early Learning Centre.

A collaboration between the Eureka Community Kindergarten Association and the City of Ballarat, the Bonshaw Early Learning Centre is a new facility located in the planned growth area of Sebastapol.

Conceived as a future community hub for the new suburb of Bonshaw, the project comprises both early learning and community facilities. Key considerations for the project were a building that responded to the local climatic conditions, and the use of robust materials both internally and externally. As a result, the building has been designed such that it takes full advantage of solar access during winter, with screening of windows to the north and west.

Contained within a 525m2 footprint, the building includes two 33-place kindergarten rooms, two maternal and child health consulting rooms, as well as a room for playgroups and general community use. The project was completed with extensive new landscaping of plants indigenous to the local area.

Project value: $1,465,000 (excl GST) including design, consultant and authority fees, factory and site based construction. Form of Contract: AS4902. Completion Date: December 2017. Factory based construction = 17 weeks.
