Phoenix College Early Learning Centre.

Design and construct delivery of a prefabricated 66 student early learning centre at Redan, VIC on behalf of the Victorian Department of Education and Training. The building was purpose designed for the local climatic conditions.

It features a highly insulated building envelope and an expansive roofed deck, enabling the children to participate in outdoor play activities in all weather conditions.

The project delivers a high environmental outcome. Windows are thermally broken and doubled glazed. Wall construction includes a vented cavity to reduce thermal bridging and increase thermal insulation. Materials and coatings are low and no VOC. The building uses timber framed construction with PEFC and FSC certified timbers.

Located within an operating school environment, undertaking the majority of construction works offsite minimised disruption to the school and surrounding area.

The success of the project is inherent not only to the built outcome but in the collaborative design and construct process undertaken to deliver the new facility.

The project was the first prefabricated educational facility delivered under a design and construct for the Victorian Department of Education and Training.

The project was finalist in the 2016 Sustainability Awards Small Commercial category.
